NAMI Lansing began as Oasis Fellowship, probably one of the first groups for family members of persons with brain disorders. We later became the Alliance for Mental Illness of Greater Lansing. In 1999, groups from across the country decided to change our name to NAMI so that we would be able to locate one another and become a truly national organization. NAMI operates on three levels: National, State, and Local.
